PW460t From HP Is Thin, Easy to Use

I admit it: I really like having a touch screen LCD on any beginner-level digital camera. It
just seems to make the camera as easy to use as possible.HP's PW460t beginner-level camera, which carries an MSRP of $149, fits the ease-of-use
criteria in a touch screen camera. The LCD on the PW460t measures 3.0 inches diagonally. The other features on the PW460t are good for a camera in its price range: 12.2 megapixels of resolution, a 4X optical zoom lens, and AVI video capabilities. The PW460t camera body, which measures only 0.7 inches in thickness, is available in pink and charcoal gray.

Camera Sales Trending Upward

Earnings reports from Canon and Kodak for the first half of 2010 indicate mixed camera sales so far this year, but the overall trend is upward. The overall Canon group reported a net profit increase of 273.2% from the first half of 2009 to the first half of 2010. Spurred by strong sales of office copiers and digital cameras, overall sales for all Canon products increased 16.5% to 1.73 billion yen ($19.69 million) during the period.Strong camera sales in China and India in the first half of 2010 caused Canon to adjust its projected sales figures for all of 2010 to 5.5 million units, up from an earlier estimate of 4.9 million.Kodak's second-quarter earnings were a bit lower than expected in part because of weaker-than-expected camera sales, but the company said the outlook for 2010 as a whole was still strong.

GE X5 Camera Sports 15X Zoom

GE, with its digital camera division General Imaging, has done a nice job in recent years
manufacturing slim point and shoot cameras with good performance levels. One of GE's latest cameras -- the GE X5 -- moves away from that formula, at least in terms of camera body size. The X5 fits into the ultra zoom category with a slightly larger camera body and a 15X optical zoom lens. The X5 offers 14.1 megapixels of resolution and a 2.7-inch LCD. The X5 carries an MSRP of $179.99, and is available in black only. (Compare Prices)GE recently sent me a test unit of the X5, and I will be publishing a review very soon. If
it's anything like the other GE cameras I've reviewed, it should be a strong performer at a
good price.
